Moorin Haven Retreat

Moorina Haven Retreat – Rainwater & Septic System Policy

At Moorina Haven Retreat, we are committed to caring for both our guests and the beautiful natural environment that surrounds us. As an acreage property, our home operates differently from town-based accommodation, and we kindly ask for your assistance in helping us protect these essential systems.

Rainwater Supply

Moorina Haven Retreat is supplied entirely by rainwater tanks.

The water is filtered and safe for everyday use, including drinking, showering and cooking. As rainwater is a precious natural resource, we kindly ask all guests to use it thoughtfully throughout their stay.

Simple ways you can help include:

  • Taking reasonably short showers.
  • Turning taps oR when not in use.
  • Only running the dishwasher or washing machine with full loads where possible.
  • Reporting any leaking taps, toilets or plumbing issues promptly.

Your small efforts help conserve water and ensure a reliable supply for everyone.

Septic System

Our property operates on an onsite wastewater treatment (septic) system, which requires special care to function effectively.

To protect the system, only human waste and toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet.

Please Do Not Flush

The following items must never be placed into the toilet:

  • Baby wipes or cleaning wipes (including those labelled “flushable”)
  • Sanitary pads, tampons or liners
  • Paper towels or tissues
  • Cotton buds, cotton balls or makeup wipes
  • Dental floss
  • Nappies
  • Condoms
  • Hair
  • Food scraps
  • Cooking oils or fats
  • Medications
  • Chemicals or cleaning products
  • Any other foreign objects

These items can block or damage the septic system and may result in costly repairs.

Kitchen & Bathroom Care

To help protect the wastewater system, please:

  • Avoid pouring cooking oils, fats or grease down sinks.
  • Dispose of food scraps in the rubbish or compost (where provided).
  • Use the bins supplied for all sanitary products, wipes and personal hygiene items.
  • Report any slow-draining sinks, toilets or unusual plumbing issues as soon as possible.

Water Conservation

As we rely entirely on rainwater, we encourage guests to be mindful of water usage throughout their stay.

By conserving water, you are helping protect the environment and supporting the sustainable operation of Moorina Haven Retreat for future guests.

If You Experience Any Issues

If you notice:

  • Low water pressure
  • Leaks
  • Blocked drains or toilets
  • Plumbing concerns
  • Water supply issues

please contact us as soon as possible so we can attend to the issue promptly.

Thank You

Your cooperation plays an important role in helping us care for our beautiful property and the surrounding environment.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support in protecting our rainwater and septic systems, allowing Moorina Haven Retreat to remain a peaceful and sustainable retreat for all who visit.
