Moorin Haven Retreat

Moorina Haven Retreat – Fire Safety Policy

At Moorina Haven Retreat, the safety of our guests, neighbouring properties, wildlife and the natural environment is our highest priority.

Queensland’s climate can create conditions where fire risks increase rapidly, particularly during dry and windy periods. We kindly ask all guests to follow this Fire Safety Policy to help keep everyone safe.

Fire Safety First

Guests are expected to use all fire-related facilities responsibly and exercise caution at all times.

Please familiarise yourself with the location of:

  • Smoke alarms
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Fire blanket
  • Emergency exits
  • Emergency assembly area

If you are unsure where any of these items are located, please contact your hosts.

Fire Bans

Queensland Fire Department fire bans and restrictions must always be observed.

  • If a Total Fire Ban or Local Fire Ban is in place, the fire pit must not be used under any circumstances.
  • Guests are responsible for checking current fire restrictions if they intend to use the fire pit.
  • Your hosts are also happy to advise whether fire pit use is permitted during your stay.

Failure to comply with fire restrictions may place lives, property and wildlife at risk and may result in immediate termination of your booking without refund.

Fire Pit

The outdoor fire pit is provided for guest enjoyment when conditions safely permit.

When using the fire pit:

  • Only use the designated fire pit provided.
  • Never leave a fire unattended.
  • Keep unauthorised visitors away from the fire pit area.
  • Ensure the fire remains a safe and manageable size.
  • Never burn rubbish, plastics, treated timber or any inappropriate materials.
  • Keep seating and combustible items a safe distance from the fire.
  • Fully extinguish the fire before leaving the area or retiring for the evening.

If weather conditions become windy or unsafe, extinguish the fire immediately.

BBQ Safety

Please enjoy the outdoor BBQ responsibly.

When using the BBQ:

  • Never leave the BBQ unattended while in use.
  • Keep the BBQ clear of flammable materials.
  • Ensure the BBQ is switched oR after use.
  • Allow the BBQ to cool before replacing the cover.
  • Clean the BBQ after use to reduce fire hazards and maintain cleanliness for future guests.

Please notify us immediately if you believe the BBQ is not operating correctly.

Smoking & Vaping

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the accommodation.

If smoking outdoors:

  • Dispose of cigarette butts safely in an appropriate container.
  • Never discard cigarette butts onto the ground or into gardens.
  • Ensure all smoking materials are completely extinguished before disposal.
